The main beach — over 1 km of fine sand, 40 m wide. Family-friendly with sunbed hire, play areas, a floating water park and several chiringuitos. Arrive before 10am in summer. The western end has the best beach restaurants.

A beautiful rocky cove between dramatic cliffs — perfect for snorkelling among rock formations. Much quieter than the main beach, with crystal-clear water and a wilder, more natural feel.

📍 Starts at Paseo Marítimo · 10 km one way
Walk the entire seafront promenade from La Cala all the way into Málaga city. About 10 km one way — a wonderful early morning or sunset stroll. Take the bus back from El Palo or Málaga centre.

🌊 Host tip

In July and August, arrive at the main beach before 10am to get a good spot. The beach fills up fast on weekends. The western end is the liveliest — head east for peace and quiet.

Most restaurants are on Paseo Marítimo Blas Infante and Avenida de Málaga. Don't miss the espetos de sardinas — sardines grilled on bamboo skewers over an open fire on the beach. A true Málaga tradition.

🎣 What to order

Try the espetos de sardinas, boquerones fritos (fried anchovies), gambas al ajillo (prawns in garlic), and pescaíto frito (mixed fried fish). Wash it down with a cold Cruzcampo or a glass of local vino blanco.

Several cafés on Avenida de Málaga serve the perfect Spanish breakfast: tostada con aceite y tomate (toasted bread with olive oil and grated tomato) with fresh OJ and café con leche. Usually from 07:30.
